Winwap Technologies is specialised in software technology for networked devices. Its products have included browser, multimedia messaging, email, UPnP A/V and USB modem driver software, together with the services needed to integrate and customise them for a customer's platform. Customers were found on every continent, and the software was embedded into products sold on global markets.
The company is privately owned and was founded in 1995 by Mikael Krogius, who continues to run it today. Its first years were spent building and selling software for the logistics and transport industry, before the focus moved to telecommunications later in the decade. In 1999 the world's first Mobile Internet WAP Browser for Windows was released, and that set the direction for a long focus on wireless software technologies for embedded platforms.
Winwap is at home with projects that have multi-year lifecycles, and with making sure its technology keeps its value for customers across that time. That principle still governs how the company works: the WAP Stack SDK and MMS Stack SDK remain under licence and in support, and licensees continue to be served directly by the people who built the software.
